Suspect may have visited mountains in Kanagawa by car in connection with body disposal case; police search for remains.
A man, the representative of an IT-related company, was arrested on suspicion of abandoning a body. Investigative sources revealed that the man is suspected of having visited mountainous areas in the west in a rental car in early October last year. The body has not been found, and the police, suspecting the body may have been abandoned in this area, began searching the mountains.
The man arrested on suspicion of abandoning a body is a 49-year-old representative director of an IT-related company. He is reportedly denying the allegations, stating, “I didn’t do it.” A male director in his 50s from the company the suspect leads has been missing since last September, and the police believe the abandoned body is likely this man.
In the mountains along a national highway in the city, investigators formed teams of several people. Calling out to each other with warnings like, “Right, cliff! Be careful,” they used metal rods to dig through the dead grass at their feet.
Drove in the Area, Also Purchased Tarps
According to investigative sources, in early October, when the body is suspected to have been abandoned, the suspect rented a car and is believed to have driven around the Mt. Takao area and western Kanagawa Prefecture. It was also newly discovered that just before this, he purchased several tarps. The police are investigating the connection.
According to the investigative division, the arrest is on suspicion that around October 5-6 last year, he removed a body from his company’s office and abandoned it. Investigative sources state that bloodstains believed to be from the male director were confirmed in multiple locations inside the company office.
