A tragic road accident in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, tourists from Kerala trapped in the jaws of death

Tamil Nadu Accident: A tragic incident has occurred in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Some tourists visiting from Kerala have died. It is reported that the van the tourists were traveling in skidded off the Valparai-Pollachi Ghat Road on Friday evening and fell into a 100-foot-deep gorge. Seven women and one man in the van died, while five others were seriously injured.

Victims Were Part of Tourist Group

The incident occurred around 5:15 PM at the 13th hairpin bend on the Valparai-Pollachi Ghat Road. The victims were from Perinthalmanna in Malappuram district, Kerala. They were part of a 13-member tourist group and were returning after a sightseeing trip in Valparai. According to initial reports, the driver of the Tempo Traveller has been identified as 21-year-old Mohammed Fasith. He lost control on the sharp bend.

Police Arrived at the Scene

The van skidded off the road, rolled down a densely forested slope, and came to a stop near the ninth hairpin bend. All eight passengers died at the scene. Upon receiving information about the incident, Valparai police reached the spot. They immediately launched a rescue operation. Fire and rescue services were also initiated to save the victims.

Ambulances Transported Victims to Hospital

A police officer stated that the rescue operation was extremely challenging due to the difficult terrain. However, all survivors were rescued. The five people injured in the accident were taken by ambulance to the government hospital in Pollachi. Their condition is reported to be serious. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem. The Kadambarrai police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the incident.
