Hyderabad, The Footwear Design & Development Institute Hyderabad held its 5th convocation ceremony today. Degrees were conferred upon the graduating batch of 2025, who are now prepared for professional careers in design, fashion, footwear, retail, and allied industries. The chief guest for the occasion was the Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy.
In his address, Minister G. Kishan Reddy highlighted India’s emerging global leadership role in manufacturing, innovation, and skill development. He stated that the footwear and leather sector is a vital economic engine, providing employment to millions and making a significant contribution to exports and the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises. He encouraged the students to leverage technology, sustainability, and design innovation to strengthen India’s global competitiveness.
72 Students Graduate at FDDI Convocation
Presiding over the ceremony, the Managing Director of FDDI congratulated the graduates and underscored the institute’s commitment to producing globally competent professionals. Students were also called upon to make a meaningful impact on society by embracing innovation, sustainability, ethical conduct, and design thinking.
In his welcome address, the institute’s Executive Director mentioned the rapid progress of the Hyderabad campus since its establishment in 2018 and highlighted key achievements such as centers of excellence, modern laboratories, and industry collaboration. Other speakers emphasized that FDDI plays a crucial role in strengthening India’s footwear, leather, fashion, and retail ecosystem through skill development, innovation, research, and industry integration. The institute remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting sustainable practices, entrepreneurship, and global standards in design and manufacturing. At the convocation, 72 students from the 2025 batch graduated from programs in Fashion Design, Footwear Design, Leather Goods & Accessories Design, and Management. During the ceremony, gold and silver medals were awarded to meritorious students for academic excellence.
