Chennai Weather: The impact of Cyclone Ditwah is now being felt in India’s southern states. As it reaches the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, heavy rainfall is occurring across large parts of the state. The cycle of stormy winds and roaring waves in sea areas continues. Due to the bad weather, schools and colleges have been closed in many areas including Chennai and its surroundings. Companies in Chennai have instructed employees to work from home. Heavy rain alerts have also been issued in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected in several districts of the state on Tuesday. Following the IMD’s warning, a decision was taken to keep all schools and colleges closed on December 2nd in Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Kanchipuram districts. This decision was taken as a precaution late Monday night.

Chennai Weather: Stormy Weather Halts the Pace of the Hi-Tech City

– According to the IMD, due to the impact of Cyclonic Storm Ditwah, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in Chennai and Tiruvallur until Tuesday morning.

– Furthermore, a flood alert has been issued for the Adyar, Kosasthalaiyar, and Araniyar rivers in Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, and Chennai districts.

– All schools and colleges in Chennai have been closed, and schools are also on holiday in other districts. Fishermen and people living in coastal areas have been advised to stay away from the sea and reservoirs.

The district administration has instructed people to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow the directives issued by disaster management agencies. The IMD has issued a Red Alert for Chennai. This is an alert issued amid the possibility of heavy rainfall. Red and Yellow Alerts have also been issued for several other districts in the state. People have also been appealed to avoid road travel. Instructions have also been issued to stay informed about the latest weather updates and alerts before stepping out of the house.

3 Deaths So Far Due to Cyclone Ditwah

It was reported that 3 people have died so far in incidents related to the cyclone. Continuous rain in Chennai and surrounding areas on Monday caused severe waterlogging on many roads, highways, and low-lying areas. Instructions have been issued to immediately provide compensation from the State Disaster Response Fund to families affected by damage to agriculture, livestock, homes, and loss of life. The Disaster Management Department, police teams, and district administration are on alert.
