TVK protest in Chennai: On Sunday, a large gathering of TVK (Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam) activists took place in Chennai. They took to the streets to protest the death of Ajith Kumar, a temple security guard, while in custody. However, due to the intense heat and sunlight, many of the activists fainted. A large number of students and common people also joined the protest.
It is worth noting that TVK is the party of actor-turned-politician Vijay. Vijay is not only one of the most expensive film stars in South India but also in the entire country, and due to his stardom, fans often refer to him as “Thalapathi” (King).

Actor and leader Vijay demands a fair investigation
Vijay termed Ajith Kumar’s death in custody as administrative negligence and stated that it was a result of the government’s carelessness. He demanded a fair investigation and strict punishment for the accused officials. People from remote areas of the state also joined the march. Police prevented several activists from reaching the protest site.

Custodial deaths are administrative murders, and the government cannot escape accountability.” Vijay also accused the state government of shielding the guilty officials.
