Shenzhen Municipal River Outfall Management Measures
The “Shenzhen Municipal River Outfall Management Measures” is not a cultural site, but a set of local government regulations. Enacted to address water pollution, these measures establish strict controls and monitoring systems for wastewater discharge points into rivers within Shenzhen, a major city in southern China. They reflect the city’s ongoing efforts, particularly since the early 2000s, to improve its water environment as part of its rapid urban development.
Bao’an Management Bureau
The Bao’an Management Bureau is a modern administrative institution in Shenzhen, China, overseeing the Bao’an District. While the bureau itself is a contemporary government body, the district it manages has a deep history, as the name “Bao’an” originates from an ancient county established in the Jin Dynasty (266–420 AD), which historically encompassed the area of present-day Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau
The Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau is a government agency established to oversee environmental protection, ecological conservation, and pollution control within the city of Shenzhen. It was formed as part of China’s growing emphasis on sustainable development, particularly in rapidly urbanizing areas, to manage the environmental impact of the city’s dramatic economic growth since the late 20th century. Its work focuses on implementing policies, monitoring environmental quality, and promoting green initiatives in one of China’s major tech and industrial hubs.
