Mehbooba Mufti accuses Ajit Doval: Mehbooba Mufti, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir known for her radical views, has once again made an inflammatory statement. She heavily criticized National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, twisting the meaning of a speech he gave at an event on Saturday to suit her narrative. Mufti alleged that the NSA’s duty is to protect the country from internal and external threats, but instead of focusing on this core work, he is engaged in inciting the people of the country against minorities.
‘Officers like Doval promote a communal ideology…’
Sharing a post on X, Mehbooba Mufti said, ‘It is extremely unfortunate that a high-ranking officer like National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, whose fundamental responsibility is to protect the country from internal and external dangerous conspiracies, is endorsing a communal ideology of hate. He has attempted to normalize violence against Muslims.’
The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said, ‘In this day and age, talking about taking revenge for centuries-old events is merely a ‘dog whistle’ (coded incitement). It works to provoke poor and uneducated youth to attack that minority community, which is already facing attacks and pressure from all sides.’
‘Muslim society facing challenges’
Venting her anger, Mehbooba said, ‘This statement by the National Security Advisor is not only against the dignity of the constitutional post but also deeply wounds the country’s unity, integrity, and secularism. When such a high-ranking officer talks about taking ‘revenge’ based on ancient history, it directly promotes communal tension. This creates a sense of fear and insecurity among the weaker sections of society.’
Playing the tried-and-tested victim card, the PDP chief said, ‘The Muslim community is already facing challenges on various fronts, be it social exclusion, economic pressure, or legal-administrative difficulties. In such a situation, the use of such language by a high-ranking officer is completely contrary to responsibility. It misleads the younger generation and promotes division instead of the country’s progress.’
It is deeply unfortunate that a high ranking officer like Mr Doval, whose duty is to guard the nation against internal and external nefarious designs, has chosen to join a communal ideology of hate and normalise violence against Muslims. Calling for REVENGE in the 21st century…
Advising the country’s NSA unsolicited, Mehbooba wrote, ‘A person who protects the country’s security and unity should maintain trust among all communities, not strengthen a hate-spreading ideology. Doval’s statement suggests he has strayed from his constitutional duty. It is time such statements are considered seriously so that peace and harmony remain in the country.’
‘Revenge of history must be taken’
It should be noted that NSA Ajit Doval gave a speech on Saturday while addressing the inaugural session of the ‘Developed India Young Leaders Dialogue’ in Delhi. Addressing the youth, he said that India’s history has been filled with helplessness and humiliation. We must take revenge for our past and make India great again. But this revenge will not be by attacking anyone, but by making India an economic, social, political, cultural, and military superpower, so that no foreign invader dares to cast an evil eye on India again.
In this speech, Doval did not target any country or religious-ethnic community. His direct message was about making India powerful again. However, Mehbooba Mufti, an expert in controversial statements, picked up the phrase ‘revenge of history must be taken’ from Doval’s remarks and wove a narrative of a call to target Muslims based on it. Although everyone knows what the truth is.
