The Cairo University Council, chaired by the University President, approved the nominations from the University’s Awards Committee for the 2025 State Awards. These include awards granted by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Supreme Council of Culture, encompassing the Nile and Appreciation awards in the fields of Science, Advanced Technological Sciences, Arts, Literature, and Social Sciences, as well as the Pioneers Awards and the Women’s Appreciation Award. The total number of nominees across various awards reached 25.
For the Supreme Council of Culture awards, specifically the Nile Award for Egyptian Creators, the Cairo University Council approved the nomination of the former Minister of Culture for the award in the field of Arts, a professor from the Faculty of Arts for the award in Literature, and another professor from the Faculty of Arts for the award in Social Sciences.
Cairo University Council Approves Nominations of 25 Academics and Public Figures for 2025 State Awards
For the Nile Award for Arab Creators, the University Council approved the nomination of a writer and poet in the field of Literature.
For the Appreciation Awards, the Council approved the nomination of a theater director in the field of Arts, a professor from the Faculty of Arts in the field of Literature, and a professor from the Faculty of Mass Communication in the field of Media.
For the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology awards, specifically the Nile Award, the Cairo University Council approved the nomination of a professor from the Faculty of Pharmacy for the award in the field of Science, and a professor from the Faculty of Science for the award in the field of Advanced Technological Sciences.
Regarding the State Appreciation Awards in Sciences, the University Council approved the nomination of a professor from the Faculty of Science in the field of Basic Sciences, a professor from the Faculty of Science in the field of Agricultural Sciences, a professor from the Faculty of Pharmacy in the field of Medical Sciences, and a professor from the Faculty of Engineering in the field of Engineering Sciences.
Regarding the State Appreciation Awards in Advanced Technological Sciences, the University Council approved the nomination of a professor from the Faculty of Science in the field of Basic Sciences, a professor from the Faculty of Agriculture in the field of Agricultural Sciences, a professor from the Faculty of Medicine in the field of Medical Sciences, and a professor from the Faculty of Engineering in the field of Engineering Sciences.
For the Pioneers Awards, the University Council approved the nomination of a professor from the Faculty of Science in the field of Basic Sciences, a professor from the Faculty of Agriculture in the field of Agricultural Sciences, a professor from the Faculty of Medicine in the field of Medical Sciences, and a professor from the Faculty of Engineering in the field of Engineering Sciences.
For the Women’s Appreciation Award, the University Council approved the nomination of a professor from the Faculty of Agriculture in the field of Agriculture and Food Sciences, a professor from the Faculty of Medicine in the field of Health and Pharmaceutical Sciences, a professor from the Faculty of Engineering in the field of Water, Energy, and Environmental Sciences, and a professor from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science in the field of Social Sciences.
The President of Cairo University stated that the University’s Awards Committee is committed to precise and strict standards and controls in selecting nominees for the State Awards, noting that the University possesses a rich wealth of scientific figures worthy of nomination. However, adherence to the State Awards regulations requires limiting nominations to only one candidate per award, following a meticulous and objective evaluation.
The University President added that the meeting of the University’s Awards Committee reviewed the scientific and professional records of the nominees from the University’s faculties for the State Awards in light of the criteria approved by the University’s Awards Committee. The review considered the nominees’ participation at various local, regional, and international levels, as well as the controls and nomination conditions set by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Supreme Council of Culture for their respective awards.
