BEKASI CITY – Bekasi Mayor, Tri Adhianto, has officially announced the appointment of hundreds of honorary teachers as part-time Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) as a form of appreciation for their dedication in educating the future generation of Bekasi City.

This policy is a tangible response from the local government to the need for improving the welfare of honorary staff who have been at the forefront of education provision, despite limited scope and facilities.

“This is a manifestation of the government’s support for the teachers’ struggle. They continue to be present and serve the nation’s children regardless of status. Now is the time for the government to provide certainty, protection, and proper appreciation,” emphasized Tri Adhianto.

The Mayor stressed that this step is not only about increasing income but also providing access to social security and other rights supporting teacher professionalism.

“With the part-time PPPK status, honorary teachers gain broader opportunities to develop and deliver higher quality education for students,” he added.

The part-time Teacher PPPK appointment program in Bekasi City is the result of strong synergy between the Bekasi City Education Office, the Bekasi City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), and academic contributions from the Nahdlatul Ulama Teachers Association (PERGUNU). PERGUNU has conducted an in-depth study on the welfare conditions of honorary teachers, which serves as the scientific basis and policy recommendation for the local government.

The Bekasi City Education Office and DPRD have expressed their commitment to ensuring the optimal implementation of this policy, as well as making it an initial step toward gradually resolving the status issues of honorary teaching staff in Bekasi City.
