Jakarta – The General Chair of the Indonesian Advocate Movement Council (DePA-RI), Dr. TM Luthfi Yazid, stated that the visit of the leadership of the Singaporean Bar Association, the Law Society of Singapore (LSS), to DePA-RI on May 18, 2026, for a meeting, exchange of ideas, and strengthening of cooperation was an honor.
A DePA-RI press release on Tuesday (May 19) stated that Luthfi, who delivered his speech online from the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, further expressed hope that cooperation between the two friendly nations, Indonesia and Singapore, especially between the two bar associations, could become even closer and continue sustainably.
He expressed optimism that the meeting between LSS and DePA-RI would be the start of a collaborative partnership that is mutually respectful and brings benefits to both bar associations as well as to the two long-time friendly countries, Indonesia and Singapore.
According to Luthfi, the visit of the Singaporean Bar Association, which has approximately 6,600 members, was a follow-up to the MoU between LSS and DePA-RI signed on August 15, 2025, by the LSS President (then held by Lisa Sam) and the General Chair of DePA-RI in Singapore.
During the visit to Jakarta, the delegation was led by Prof Tan Cheng Han SC, as President of LSS. Also present in the delegation were 18 lawyers from various law firms in Singapore: Ramesh Selvaraj (Allen & Gledhill LLP), Remy Choo (RCLT Law Corporation), and Abdul Rahman BMH (Abdul Rahman Law Corporation).
Other delegates were Abdul Wahab Bin Saul Hamid (A.W. Law LLC), Dawn Tan (ADT Law LLC), Jenny Lai (Jenny Lai & Co), Kevin Tan (Kennedys Legal Solutions), Lisa Sam (Lisa Sam & Company), Nazim Khan (PD Legal LLC), Oliver Quek (Oliver Quek & Associates), and Ronald JJ Wong (Covenant Chambers LLC).

Mecca

Al Azhar Islamic University, Mataram
Al Azhar Islamic University in Mataram, located on the island of Lombok, Indonesia, is a prominent Islamic higher education institution established to provide religious and general academic education. It was founded in 2010 by the Al-Azhar Foundation, drawing inspiration from Egypt’s Al-Azhar University, one of the oldest Islamic universities in the world. Greater Jakarta
Greater Jakarta, known as Jabodetabek, is a sprawling metropolitan region in Indonesia that includes Jakarta and its surrounding satellite cities like Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB)
