The Tangerang District Narcotics Agency (BNK) will soon build a special rehabilitation facility for people affected by drugs.

This effort also reinforces the local government’s commitment to tackling drug abuse in Tangerang District.

The head of BNK Tangerang explained that the plan to establish this rehabilitation center has been communicated to the Tangerang Regent and received a positive response.

“We have reported to the Regent and he has given his approval. We hope that in the near future Tangerang District will have a rehabilitation center for drug users,” he said.

He stated that rehabilitation facilities need to be prepared promptly so that individuals affected by drugs can receive proper treatment, given that the recovery process is not easy.

“We do need to prepare rehabilitation facilities so that the handling is more appropriate. From various disclosed cases, there appears to be a trend of increasing drug use, particularly the use of hard drugs like Category G substances,” he explained.

He added that there is already a directive from the Regent for the facility to be prepared immediately and discussed further in a meeting with related institutions.

“The planned location is around Jayanti as the future rehabilitation center,” he added.

He elaborated that rehabilitation efforts cannot be done instantly. Each case must go through an assessment process by the Integrated Assessment Team (TAT), which involves the prosecutor’s office, police, and medical personnel.

“Assessment is important. A person cannot just be placed into a rehab center. It must first be determined whether they are eligible for rehabilitation or not,” he concluded.
