Krasnodar – The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs is warning citizens about a new fraudulent scheme aimed at stealing money and personal data.
Scammers contact the victim, posing as employees of a marketplace delivery service. To “confirm” receipt of a package, they request a code from an SMS message. After obtaining this code, the fraudsters gain access to the user’s account on the “Gosuslugi” portal.
After hacking into “Gosuslugi,” the criminals inform the victim about supposedly issued loans in their name and transfers of funds to the needs of the Armed Forces. To “solve the problem,” the scammers convince the victim to withdraw cash from their bank accounts and hand it over to individuals posing as special service employees.
