A draft regulatory act has been published, establishing new threshold scores for the Unified State Exam (USE) required for admission to Russian universities under the Ministry of Education and Science for the 2026/27 academic year.

Requirements for Russian language, specialized mathematics, geography, social studies, and literature remain unchanged. The threshold for social studies stays at 45 points, while for the other listed subjects, it remains 40 points.

According to the document, adjustments will affect six subjects. The most significant changes apply to graduates taking foreign languages, where the threshold will increase from 30 to 40 points. A notable increase is also planned for history: the minimum score will rise from 36 to 40 points.

Additionally, the USE in physics will require applicants to score at least 41 points, up from the current 39. For chemistry and biology, the lower limit will shift from 39 to 40 points. The minimum score for the USE in computer science will be raised to 46 points, compared to the current 44.

In explanatory materials accompanying the draft order, the ministry stated that the goal of these changes is to improve the quality of education. The decision to adjust the USE thresholds was made based on an analysis of statistics from the 2025/26 admissions campaign.
