Assam Police have arrested a person for posting inflammatory content about popular singer and artist Jubin Garg on social media. This case is considered part of actions against fake and defamatory content spreading on social media.

In Assam’s Nagaon district, 27-year-old Injamul Haque was arrested for posting an inflammatory video related to singer Jubin Garg’s death on social media. During police interrogation, the accused admitted that he took a clip from an OTT platform, edited it himself, added inflammatory comments, and posted it on social media.

Police stated that the accused Injamul Haque, son of Rowshot Uddin, is a resident of Teliya Babejia village in the Juria police station area. He had posted an edited video on social media containing inflammatory statements related to singer Jubin Garg’s death.

Singer Jubin died on September 19 in Singapore due to drowning during scuba diving. At that time, Jubin was on a boat with a total of 17 people.

In the preliminary investigation, Singapore Police have declared Jubin’s death as ‘natural.’ In the report submitted to the Indian High Commission, police stated, ‘No suspicious activity or foul play has been found.’

However, Assam Police’s SIT is investigating the case from murder and criminal conspiracy angles. In this connection, the SIT will visit Singapore on October 20 and meet with police officials.

SIT Has Registered Over 60 FIRs So Far

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) reported that in connection with Jubin’s death case, over 60 FIRs have been registered against 10 people in the state so far. The postmortem report conducted in Singapore will be given to the family according to protocol. The Singapore investigation team also worked on the case and contacted the family. Meanwhile, the report of the second postmortem conducted in Guwahati has not been released yet.
