Chongqing Issues Level IV Rainstorm Disaster Warning, Heavy Rain Expected Starting Tomorrow Night
On October 15, the Chongqing Meteorological Bureau issued a Level IV rainstorm disaster warning. Due to the combined influence of warm, moist southwestern air currents and cold air, rainy weather in Chongqing is expected to persist until the 20th. A heavy rain event is forecast from the night of the 16th to the night of the 17th, with heavy to torrential rain in the northern part of the western region and the eastern areas, and localized downpours (accumulated rainfall of 40–90 mm, locally 120–150 mm). Other areas will experience moderate to heavy rain, with maximum hourly rainfall of 30–50 mm. From the 16th to the 20th, the average daily temperature in most areas will drop by 5–8°C.

Night of the 15th to day of the 16th: Moderate to heavy rain in the southeastern region (15–40 mm), while other areas will be overcast with showers or scattered showers. Temperatures 14–29°C; urban center overcast with scattered showers, temperatures 21–28°C.


Night of the 16th to day of the 17th: Heavy to torrential rain in the northern part of the western region and the northeastern areas (30–80 mm), with localized downpours (100–120 mm). Other areas will see light to moderate rain, with localized heavy rain (25–45 mm). Mountain passes and valley areas will experience northerly winds of force 4–6. Temperatures 14–27°C; urban center moderate rain turning to light rain, temperatures 22–25°C.
