Thousands of workers from various labor unions packed the Tangerang City Government Office on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in a major demonstration.

The workers demanded a significant wage increase, with their demand reaching 11 percent of the current wage.

This action caused traffic flow around the Pasar Baru traffic light to become congested.

The workers carried banners and posters voicing their demand for the Tangerang City Government to immediately implement pro-worker policies, especially regarding the determination of the 2026 City Minimum Wage.

“We came here to demand our rights. The increase in the price of basic necessities is not proportional to the wage increases we have received so far,” said the chairman of the Tangerang City Workers’ Committee.

In their speeches, the demonstrators demanded a wage increase of up to 11 percent to be able to live decently. “We ask the City Government to listen to our voice!”

Meanwhile, police and public order personnel were seen maintaining a tight guard around the office area to ensure the action proceeded in an orderly and safe manner.

It is known that the Tangerang City Minimum Wage for 2025 is Rp 5,069,708. This amount is the result of a 6.5% increase from the 2024 City Minimum Wage, which was approximately Rp 4,760,289.

If it increases by 11%, the 2026 Tangerang City Minimum Wage would become Rp 5,627,375, an increase of Rp 557,667 from this year’s City Minimum Wage.
