A drug trafficking network in Tangerang City was successfully dismantled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pinang Police Precinct, Metro Tangerang City Police.

A man with the initials AG, 24, a resident of Bencongan Village, Kelapa Dua District, Tangerang Regency, was arrested after being found storing and distributing a remarkably large quantity of marijuana.

“AG was apprehended on Saturday, around 3:00 PM local time, in front of his rented residence on Tuntang 2 Street, Bencongan Village, based on public reports about rampant marijuana circulation in that location,” said the Metro Tangerang City Police Chief.

During a search, police discovered six large plastic packages containing dried marijuana with a total weight reaching 1,682 grams (1.6 kg) ready for distribution.

In addition to the marijuana, several other pieces of evidence were also seized, including one large electronic scale, one Samsung mobile phone, and one Honda Scoopy motorcycle allegedly used by the perpetrator for transactions.

“This arrest originated from community information that we promptly followed up on. The Criminal Investigation Unit’s operational team immediately moved to the location and secured the perpetrator AG, whose characteristics matched the report,” stated the Police Chief.

During initial questioning, AG admitted to obtaining the marijuana supply from someone he only knew by the name Haji in the Parung area, Bogor. However, AG claimed not to know the exact address of his main supplier.

Threat of Life Imprisonment

For his actions, AG is charged under Article 111 paragraph (2) Sub 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The perpetrator faces a very severe punishment, namely life imprisonment or a minimum prison sentence of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years.

The Police Chief emphasized that this case is still being developed to pursue AG’s main supplier.

“We are fully committed to eradicating the circulation of narcotics to protect community security and order from the dangers of drugs,” he affirmed.
