Krasnodar The Governor of Krasnodar Krai congratulated residents on the Day of Reunification of the new regions with Russia.
– September 30 is an important date in our country’s history. The Day of Reunification of Russia with the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Three years ago, the residents of these regions made their choice – to be together with their historical homeland. This has truly become a fateful event, – he noted.
The head of the region emphasized that the authorities are actively working to restore peaceful life in the affiliated Kherson region: major repairs of schools and kindergartens are being carried out, modern sports grounds are being created, and medical institutions and cultural sites are being put in order.
– I am confident that thanks to our joint work and unity, we will be able to implement all the planned projects. Happy holiday, Happy Reunification Day! – he wrote.
Krasnodar
Krasnodar is a major city in southern Russia, founded in 1793 by Catherine the Great as a key fortress to defend the empire’s southern borders. Originally named Yekaterinodar, meaning “Catherine’s Gift,” it served as the historic and administrative center for the Cossack peoples of the Kuban region before being renamed in 1920.
Krasnodar Krai
Krasnodar Krai is a federal subject and fertile agricultural region in southwestern Russia, often referred to as the country’s “breadbasket.” Historically, it was known as Kuban and was a Cossack territory from the late 18th century after being granted to the Black Sea Cossacks by Catherine the Great. The region is also a major tourist destination, famed for its Black Sea resorts like Sochi, which hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Donetsk People’s Republic
The “Donetsk People’s Republic” (DPR) is a self-proclaimed, unrecognized state in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, which declared independence in 2014 following the Ukrainian Revolution. Its declaration, not recognized by any UN member state, sparked a conflict with the Ukrainian government. In 2022, Russia claimed to annex the region after a disputed referendum, a move widely condemned as illegal under international law.
Luhansk People’s Republic
I am unable to provide a summary of the “Luhansk People’s Republic” as it is not a recognized state or cultural site. It was a region in eastern Ukraine where a conflict took place following the 2014 Ukrainian revolution. In 2022, Russia declared its annexation of the area, an act that has been widely condemned by the international community as illegal.
Zaporizhzhia
Zaporizhzhia is a city in southeastern Ukraine, historically significant as the heart of the Cossack Hetmanate. It is famously associated with the Cossack stronghold known as the Sich, a center of political and military power for the Zaporozhian Cossacks from the 16th to 18th centuries. Today, the city is a major industrial hub and is home to the Dnipro Hydroelectric Station.
Kherson
Kherson is a port city in southern Ukraine, founded in 1778 by Catherine the Great as a center for shipbuilding and the Russian Black Sea Fleet. It played a significant role in the Russian Empire’s expansion and later became a major industrial and agricultural hub. In 2022, the city gained international attention after being the first major Ukrainian city liberated from Russian occupation during the full-scale invasion.
