BEKASI – Mahamuda Bekasi has urged the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction of the Bekasi City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) to propose and initiate the use of their right of inquiry regarding the policy of position transfers carried out by Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto in early September.

The Chairman of Mahamuda Bekasi highlighted the ongoing controversy over the position transfers, which placed the mayor’s younger sibling as Head of the Health Office and the mayor’s in-law, who is also the spouse of the Health Office Head, as Head of the Regional Revenue Agency. According to him, this policy is laden with potential for abuse of authority that benefits family members.

“These position transfers clearly have the potential to lead to practices of collusion, nepotism, and conflicts of interest. The mayor appears to be using his power to benefit his own family,” he stated in a press release.

Mahamuda Bekasi considers the placement of close relatives in strategic positions to violate the principles of clean and accountable governance. If left unchecked, he added, the public will lose trust in the integrity of the Bekasi City Government. This push for discourse serves as a basis for PKB, which could potentially consolidate with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction as the election winner, the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction, and others.

“As a party that is now vocal in defending public rights, we urge PKB to take the initiative and consolidate with other factions regarding the right of inquiry, and I am confident many will support it. The DPRD must have the courage to bring to light these allegations of collusion and nepotism, so the public knows which council members dare to speak out and which ones merely serve as the mayor’s rubber stamp and participate in this corrupt game of position transfers,” he concluded.
