Hospital Quality Assessment Implementation in Ho Chi Minh City

A plan to assess hospital quality for 2025 has just been issued, expected to begin implementation from May 28.

The Department of Health will establish a team consisting of 6 independent assessment groups, inspecting hospitals 2 days per week under a risk management approach, focusing on facilities with low quality scores, those with complaints related to management, expertise, or those that have not yet undergone quality assessment of testing after merger.

The assessment content aims to review, guide, and support units to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment.

The assessment list includes hospitals with a 2024 quality score below 3.5 points; hospitals with complaints related to management, administration, or implementation of professional regulations; and priority is given to facilities in Binh Duong and areas that have not yet been assessed for testing quality levels before merger.

Ho Chi Minh City Adds More General Hospitals Converted from 13 Medical Centers

According to a report from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, 11 out of 13 current medical centers with hospital beds will gradually be converted into general hospitals to align with the city’s health network planning.

Specifically, the 13 regional medical centers in Ho Chi Minh City with hospital beds according to the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee include: Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen, Ben Cat, Dau Tieng, Phu Giao, Bau Bang, North Tan Uyen, Phu My, Chau Duc, Ho Tram, Long Dat, and the Military-Civil Medical Center of Con Dao Special Zone.

Among them, the North Tan Uyen Regional Medical Center will become the second facility of Binh Duong General Hospital, leveraging management and professional capacity from the existing line hospital.

Specifically, the Ho Tram Regional Medical Center will be built under the model of a general hospital with comprehensive support and professional support from top-tier hospitals to meet tourism and emergency needs.

For the Phu My Regional Medical Center, the health sector is surveying and researching a roadmap for upgrading, gradually transitioning into a general hospital serving industrial parks and port areas.
