A school lunch for elementary students at a school in Quảng Trị was posted on social media because the quality did not match the price.

On October 6, Ba Đồn ward authorities confirmed they are verifying information about the controversial school lunch at Ba Đồn Elementary School No. 1 that has been circulating on social media.

The ward stated they have directly worked with the school and requested a report.

Initially, local authorities confirmed the lunch image is from the October 6 lunch at Ba Đồn Elementary School No. 1.

Earlier that same day, images of the school lunch at Ba Đồn Elementary School No. 1 were posted online along with a note indicating the price was 25,000 VND.

Immediately, online communities expressed shock. Many people commented that the meal’s quality did not match the price and did not ensure adequate nutrition for students.

According to the images, the school lunch was served in a tray. The tray contained white rice, approximately 3 slices of pork roll, 1 boiled egg, a small amount of sesame salt, and some soup with a few vegetable strands.

According to verification, the Quảng Trị Provincial People’s Council regulations set the price for each elementary school lunch at 25,000 VND. This includes approximately 2,000 VND for additional fees, so the actual cost per meal is about 23,000 VND.

School leadership confirmed the image is indeed from Ba Đồn Elementary School No. 1 on October 6. The school lunches are provided by a company under contract. School leadership also acknowledged that due to negligence, the October 6 lunch quality did not meet requirements. This person also committed to making corrections.

At noon, when school lunches were served at T.V. Elementary School (Xuân Hương ward – Đà Lạt), many parents took their children out of school due to concerns about food safety.
