Strengthening Vietnam-China Youth Cooperation in the New Era
The talks took place in the capital city of Beijing, on the occasion of a delegation of Vietnamese youth participating in a program in China.
Attending the talks from the Vietnamese side were representatives including: Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Youth Federation, along with other leaders and officials from the Central Committee, and Secretaries of the municipal Youth Unions of Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Thai Nguyen; and the People’s Foreign Relations Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Attending from the Chinese side was Comrade Xu Xiao, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, President of the All-China Youth Federation, along with other leaders and officials from the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.
At the talks, Comrade A Dong expressed pleasure in welcoming Comrade Bui Quang Huy and the delegation from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; emphasizing that the visit holds significant meaning, contributing to promoting exchanges, enhancing understanding, and cooperation between the youth of the two countries in the coming time.
An overview of the talks.
Comrade Bui Quang Huy sincerely thanked the Communist Youth League of China for the thoughtful reception extended to the Vietnamese delegation, particularly within the framework of the “Red Journey” program.
Both sides highly appreciated the regular maintenance of high-level visits and contacts between the leadership of the two Parties and States in recent years, contributing to strategic orientation and creating momentum to promote bilateral relations. In particular, recent high-level visits have opened a new phase of development, increasingly substantive and effective for the relationship.
On that basis, the two sides agreed to continue strengthening coordination, focusing on several key areas:
First, identifying the task of educating revolutionary ideals and fostering political mettle for youth as the central axis of cooperation; gradually shifting from event-based activities to building a regular, continuous, and in-depth educational mechanism.
Second, promoting cooperation in training and developing Youth Union cadres as a breakthrough and foundational element for sustainable youth cooperation relations.
Third, expanding youth exchange programs targeting specific groups such as young scientists, young entrepreneurs… to enhance experience sharing and mutual learning; strengthening exchanges and connections between students of the two countries through practical exchange activities.

Fourth, coordinating to establish a joint steering mechanism for the “Red Journey” program between the two Central Committees; expanding the scale and participants of the “Red Journey” program in 2027, focusing on students; coordinating to develop high-educational-value thematic programs for the youth of both countries; researching the organization of pre-program online activities; organizing the “Red Journey” program for Vietnamese students in China in 2027; and simultaneously researching the implementation of a similar program for Chinese students in Vietnam in the near future.
Fifth, strengthening youth media exchange activities to disseminate positive information about the relations between the two countries.
The talks took place in a friendly and sincere atmosphere, contributing to consolidating political trust and expanding Vietnam-China youth cooperation in the new period.
Beijing

Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union is the primary youth organization in Vietnam, founded in 1931 under the guidance of the Communist Party of Vietnam and named after revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh in 1976. Its history is deeply tied to mobilizing Vietnamese youth for national liberation, reconstruction, and socialist development. Today, it functions as a mass organization for young people, focusing on political education, skill development, and social activities under the party’s leadership.
Vietnam Youth Federation
The Vietnam Youth Federation is a nationwide socio-political organization in Vietnam, established in 1956, that aims to unite and represent the country’s youth. Its history is closely tied to national movements, originally founded to mobilize young people during the periods of resistance and national reconstruction. Today, it continues to promote patriotism, personal development, and social engagement among Vietnamese youth.
Vietnam Fatherland Front
The Vietnam Fatherland Front is a political coalition and mass organization in Vietnam, established in 1955 (as the Vietnam Fatherland Front) to unify various groups in support of the Communist Party of Vietnam. It traces its origins to earlier united fronts like the Viet Minh, which were instrumental in the struggle for independence. Today, it functions as an umbrella organization to mobilize public support for state policies and foster national unity.
Communist Youth League of China
The Communist Youth League of China (CYL) is a mass youth organization led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), founded in 1922 to serve as a vital reserve force and assistant to the Party. It plays a central role in educating and organizing Chinese youth, guiding them to study the Party’s theories and contribute to the nation’s socialist modernization. Throughout its history, it has been a primary channel for cultivating future Party members and cadres.
All-China Youth Federation
The All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) is a national people’s organization in China, founded in 1949, that serves as a broad patriotic united front for Chinese youth under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party. Its primary role is to unite and guide young people from all ethnic groups and sectors of society, representing their interests and organizing them to contribute to national development and social progress.
Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is Vietnam’s largest and most dynamic metropolis. It served as the capital of the French colony of Cochinchina and later the Republic of Vietnam until the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, when it was renamed in honor of the revolutionary leader. Today, it is a major economic hub where modern skyscrapers stand alongside historic French colonial landmarks like the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica.
Da Nang
Da Nang is a major coastal city in central Vietnam, historically known as a significant port during the French colonial era and the Vietnam War. Today, it is a modern economic hub and popular tourist destination, famed for its beaches, the Marble Mountains, and its proximity to the ancient town of Hoi An and the My Son sanctuary.
