The Riyadh Region Municipality announced the full opening of the Al-Hayer Road Bridge at its intersection with Wadi Hanifa, as part of projects to improve the road network and enhance traffic efficiency south of the capital.

The project included the construction of a bridge 170 meters long and 15 meters wide

The Municipality clarified that the project included the construction of a bridge 170 meters long and 15 meters wide, containing 4 traffic lanes, alongside the development of Al-Hayer Road to improve traffic flow. It also involved implementing a secondary road from the Al-Ghanamiya neighborhood to connect residents to Al-Hayer Road, passing over the bridge, which enhances ease of movement and connectivity between neighboring districts.

It added that the project contributes to raising the level of traffic safety, improving traffic flow, and reducing conflict points, while also ensuring that rising water levels in Wadi Hanifa do not affect vehicle movement on the bridge, supporting continuous traffic flow on the road.

The opening of this bridge coincides with the operation of the Al-Ghanamiya neighborhood bridge, enhancing traffic connectivity with the Al-Hayer Road Bridge and supporting integrated movement along this corridor.

These works are part of the Riyadh Region Municipality’s direction to develop road networks in a way that supports urban development and raises the quality of life, in line with its vision of being a leading municipality for a prosperous and sustainable Riyadh that elevates the quality of life, and its mission to elevate Riyadh by promoting sustainable urban development, providing high-quality services, and building effective partnerships towards a vibrant community.

Al-Hayer Road Bridge

The Al-Hayer Road Bridge is a modern infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia, constructed to improve connectivity across the Al-Hayer region. While it does not have a long historical legacy, it represents the kingdom’s ongoing development efforts to enhance transportation networks and support economic growth in the area.

Wadi Hanifa

Wadi Hanifa is a historic valley and seasonal riverbed running through the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia. For centuries, it served as a vital water source and agricultural hub for ancient settlements, though it later suffered from pollution and neglect. In recent decades, a major government rehabilitation project has transformed it into a celebrated natural sanctuary and recreational corridor within the capital city.

Al-Ghanamiya neighborhood

The Al-Ghanamiya neighborhood is a historic district in the old city of Tripoli, Libya, believed to date back to the Ottoman period. It is known for its traditional architecture, including distinctive domed houses and narrow alleys, reflecting the city’s rich mercantile and artisanal history. Today, it stands as a significant cultural heritage site, though it has faced challenges due to urban decay and conflict.

Al-Ghanamiya neighborhood bridge

The Al-Ghanamiya neighborhood bridge is a historic stone arch bridge located in the old city of Mosul, Iraq. It was originally constructed in the 19th century during the Ottoman era to facilitate movement across a major canal, serving as a vital link in the area’s urban fabric. Tragically, the bridge was severely damaged during the conflict with ISIS in 2016-2017, but it remains a symbol of the city’s architectural heritage and resilience.
