Localizing the yeast industry and developing fermentation solutions within the Kingdom

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs held a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh with the General Manager of Lesaffre Gulf, to discuss enhancing cooperation in the food industries sector, particularly in localizing the yeast industry and developing fermentation solutions within the Kingdom.

Discussing opportunities for transferring knowledge and modern technologies and building national capabilities in this field

The meeting reviewed available investment opportunities in yeast manufacturing and increasing local content in inputs for the bakery and food industry, contributing to supporting national food security, along with discussing opportunities for transferring knowledge and modern technologies and building national capabilities in this field.

The meeting also highlighted the enablers provided by the industrial system to investors, including services offered by the authority such as industrial lands, ready-made factories, and supportive solutions for quality investments.

In a related context, the National Center for Industrial Development signed a memorandum of understanding with Lesaffre to cooperate in localizing yeast product manufacturing and exchanging expertise in the food industries sector, supporting the targets of the National Industrial Strategy.

Lesaffre is one of the world’s leading companies in yeast production and fermentation solutions, with over 170 years of experience and a broad international presence serving the food and bakery sectors.

This cooperation comes within the efforts of the Ministry of Industry to enhance international partnerships in food industries and support the development of priority industries according to Vision 2030, amid rapid sector growth with new investments exceeding 28 billion riyals, targeting reaching 78 billion riyals and raising exports from 22 to 31 billion riyals by 2035.
