The Deanship of Development and Quality, in cooperation with the General Administration of Legal Affairs, organized a workshop titled: “Discussing the Governance of Committees and Councils and the Tasks of Academic Leadership.” The workshop was attended by the University Vice President for Academic Affairs, the University President’s Advisor for Legal Affairs, the Dean of Development and Quality, and a number of college deans, department heads, and staff at the King Abdulaziz Support Hall.

In his opening speech, it was emphasized that the goal of holding the workshop stems from the importance of institutional work governance. The workshop came in response to the university’s directions to develop its regulatory and academic system, aiming to review the draft organizational guide for the tasks and authorities of colleges and educational institutes, and to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to express their opinions and present their improvement suggestions. The workshop addressed the tasks of committees and units, the tasks of deans, vice deans, and department heads, and then council management.

It was also confirmed in a speech that organizing this workshop embodies the university’s direction towards enhancing academic governance and building clear and systematic frameworks. It was pointed out that defining the workshop’s objectives and distributing committee tasks aligns with the scale of the roles undertaken by colleges and educational institutes and reflects institutional awareness of the importance of integration between various academic units. It was clarified that establishing a regular mechanism for forming committees and building their tasks, along with defining the roles of college deans and department heads, contributes to raising the efficiency of academic work and achieving a tangible positive impact in the next phase. The importance of commitment to neutrality and applying approved standards to ensure the quality of outputs and procedures was emphasized.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants produced a set of recommendations aimed at enhancing organizational clarity and regulating tasks and authorities, which serves the path of academic development at the university.
