The Prince of Jazan Region, Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, along with his deputy Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed, toured the sections of the specialized mango harvest event held in Sabya Governorate, with the participation of 50 farmers from various governorates in the region. The farmers showcased diverse varieties of mangoes alongside tropical fruits for which Jazan is known, including papaya, bananas, figs, guava, and soursop, in a scene reflecting the agricultural diversity and production wealth the region is experiencing.

Tour of the Jazan Prince through Event Sections

During the tour, the Prince and his deputy reviewed the different varieties of mangoes produced by the region, which contains over one million mango trees with an annual production exceeding 65,000 tons, solidifying Jazan’s status as one of the most prominent mango-producing areas in the Kingdom. They also listened to an explanation from the Executive Director of the Mango Harvest Events, Ahmed Abuqarn, regarding the goals of the events aimed at leveraging the region’s abundant agricultural potential.

Goals of the Events and Support for the Agricultural Sector

Abuqarn explained that the events aim to enhance the economic value of the agricultural sector, support farmers, and encourage them to expand the production of high-economic-value crops, alongside empowering local products, opening broader horizons for agricultural marketing, and fostering innovation in production and marketing policies. He emphasized that this contributes to increasing the competitiveness of agricultural products, stimulating agricultural investment, and enhancing the sector’s sustainability in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Participation of Government Departments and Cooperative Associations

The Prince and his deputy also toured the sections of participating government departments and cooperative associations, which showcase support programs, agricultural extension services, and technical and financial services provided to farmers. These sections aim to introduce visitors from various segments of society to the qualitative initiatives that contribute to developing the agricultural sector, raising production efficiency, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

The mango harvest events in Sabya Governorate continue from May 14 to 18, welcoming visitors with diverse programs that combine agricultural marketing, introduction to local products, interactive displays, and accompanying activities. These events offer visitors the opportunity to experience Jazan’s agricultural richness and closely learn about the quality of its local products, as the region continues to strengthen its presence as a leading agricultural and economic destination in the Kingdom.
