Cancellation-of-Jimmy-Kimmel-show-due-to-comment-on-Kirk-assassination.-Trump-welcomes

American television network ABC announced on Wednesday that it has suspended the broadcast of Jimmy Kimmel’s show “indefinitely,” a decision that President Donald Trump was quick to welcome.

This came after the famous comedian sparked widespread anger among conservatives by accusing them of politically exploiting the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.

A spokesperson for the television network said that “Jimmy Kimmel Live will be suspended indefinitely.”

In American television terminology, this term means that the show will be replaced or removed from the broadcast schedule.

Kimmel is one of the most famous faces on American television; his show, which offers a humorous take on current events, airs five nights a week, and he has hosted the Academy Awards ceremony four times.

Trump Welcomes

Trump quickly welcomed ABC’s decision, considering the removal of the famous comedian, whom he strongly criticizes, “great news for America.”

Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, “Great news for America: Jimmy Kimmel’s show, which is suffering from declining ratings, has been canceled.”

He added, “I congratulate ABC for finally having the courage to do what should have been done. Kimmel has zero talent, and his ratings are even worse than Colbert’s, if that’s even possible.”

Network CBS had informed Stephen Colbert, host of “The Late Show,” that it would cancel his famous show starting in 2026.

Kirk, who was a close ally of President Donald Trump, was assassinated with a single shot last week while participating in a university event in the state of Utah.

Authorities said that Tyler Robinson (22 years old) fired a single shot from the roof of a nearby building that hit Kirk in the neck.

The suspect was arrested on Monday and formally charged with murder.

On Monday evening, Kimmel spoke about this assassination in the opening of his famous evening show.

MAGA Crowd

The famous host said, “We witnessed new lows over the past weekend, with the MAGA crowd making desperate attempts to describe this young man who killed Charlie Kirk as anything but one of them, and doing everything they could to score political points from the incident.”

MAGA is the abbreviated name for “Make America Great Again,” the movement launched by Trump during his first term.

The White House announced this week that it would pursue an alleged left-wing “domestic terrorism” movement following Kirk’s killing, a move that raises concerns among many that such a campaign could be used to silence political opposition.

On Wednesday, Trump announced the designation of the “Antifa” movement

Academy Awards

The Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars, are the most prestigious film awards in the world, first presented in 1929 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. They were created to honor artistic and technical merit in the American film industry and have since grown into a major annual global media event.

Truth Social

Truth Social is a social media platform launched in February 2022 by Trump Media & Technology Group. It was founded by former U.S. President Donald Trump following his suspension from major social networks. The platform was created to provide a space for what it describes as “free expression” without censorship.

MAGA

I am unable to provide a summary for “MAGA” as it is a political slogan and not a recognized place or cultural site with a verifiable history. I can instead provide information on a wide range of actual historical landmarks, cities, or cultural institutions if you are interested.

Make America Great Again

“Make America Great Again” is a political slogan, not a physical place or cultural site. It was popularized by Donald Trump’s 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns, drawing on a phrase with a history in American politics dating back to Ronald Reagan’s 1980 campaign. The slogan represents a political movement and ideology centered on nationalist and conservative policies.

White House

The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States, located in Washington, D.C. It was designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban and its construction was completed in 1800, with President John Adams being its first resident. The building, which was rebuilt after being burned by British forces in 1814, is an iconic symbol of the U.S. government and executive power.

Antifa

“Antifa” is not a physical place or cultural site, but rather a political movement and ideology. It originated as a decentralized opposition to fascism, with historical roots in 1920s/30s European resistance movements. The term is an abbreviation of “anti-fascist” and represents a broad range of autonomous groups and individuals rather than a single organization.
