A 20-year-old Saudi student was killed in a horrific assault in Mill Park, Cambridge, on Friday evening. Police have launched an extensive investigation and detained suspects in connection with the case.

Cambridge Police confirmed they received a report of the assault at 11:27 PM on Friday, August 1, 2025. Medical and police teams responded immediately, but the student succumbed to his injuries at 12:01 AM.

Police arrested a 21-year-old Cambridge resident on suspicion of direct involvement in the crime. Another man in his fifties was also detained on suspicion of aiding the perpetrator. Both suspects were taken to Thorpe Wood Police Station, where they remain in custody as investigations continue.

EF International Language Campuses, where the victim was studying English, stated that the incident was “isolated and resulted from an assault by a member of the public.” The institution confirmed full cooperation with authorities and is providing psychological support to students and staff.
