Tomorrow.. Two million male and female students return to their classrooms in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif

Tomorrow, Sunday, approximately two million male and female students will resume their studies in the education administrations of the Jeddah, Makkah, Taif, and Madinah regions, after their return was postponed by one week compared to the rest of the regions of the Kingdom.

The decision to postpone was made in consideration of the specific nature of these regions and their connection to the Hajj and Umrah seasons, and the continuous high human density and organizational crowds they have witnessed during the recent period.

Makkah

Makkah (Mecca) is the holiest city in Islam, located in Saudi Arabia, and is the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad. It is the site of the Masjid al-Haram (the Sacred Mosque), which contains the Kaaba, the most sacred structure in Islam that Muslims believe was built by Abraham and his son Ishmael. Every year, millions of Muslims perform the Hajj pilgrimage to the city, a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime.

Madinah

Madinah, officially known as Medina, is a city in western Saudi Arabia revered as the second holiest city in Islam. It was the destination of the Prophet Muhammad’s migration (Hijrah) in 622 CE, which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar, and it served as the capital of the first Muslim community. The city is most famous for Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (The Prophet’s Mosque), which contains his tomb and is a major site of pilgrimage.

Jeddah

Jeddah is a major port city on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, historically serving as the gateway for pilgrims traveling to the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Its historic district, Al-Balad, is a UNESCO World Heritage site famed for its distinctive coral stone architecture and traditional merchant houses.

Taif

Taif is a historic city in Saudi Arabia’s mountains, known as the “Summer Capital” for its cool climate and rose gardens. It has a long history dating back to pre-Islamic times and was famously besieged by the early Muslims in 630 CE. Today, it is a popular tourist destination, renowned for its agriculture, particularly roses used to make attar perfume.
