Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, represented by the Deanship of Scientific Research, has launched the second phase of developing its scientific research and innovation strategy. This was announced during a workshop attended by the university’s acting president, alongside a group of researchers and specialists.
During his speech, the acting president emphasized that the new research strategy serves as a roadmap for enhancing the university’s research environment. He stressed the importance of aligning research with national priorities and supporting innovation to contribute to Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
He added that this step reflects the university’s commitment to improving research outcomes and strengthening their impact on national development. The success of the strategy depends on collaborative efforts between researchers and academic departments, as well as fostering an innovative research environment that supports sustainable development. Researchers were encouraged to actively participate in shaping the strategy to achieve a qualitative leap in the university’s research output.
During the workshop, the Dean of Scientific Research reviewed mechanisms for identifying major challenges that the university, with its research expertise, can help address. She emphasized that scientific research must evolve to actively contribute to solving these challenges, noting that the deanship is working on a comprehensive research strategy aligned with national objectives.
She explained that the first phase focused on reviewing national priorities and analyzing the university’s research strengths, while the second phase, launched under the patronage of the acting president, aims to involve researchers in shaping the strategy by reviewing proposals and incorporating their expert insights.
The workshop includes around 70 of the university’s most active researchers to ensure the development of clear, innovative goals for the strategy. The process will continue for two weeks through intensive workshops to gather all proposals before a specialized committee reviews and approves them.
The new strategy prioritizes research areas of national importance, particularly health and life sciences, which are among the university’s key research strengths. This aligns with the university’s efforts to enhance the role of scientific research in serving society and contributing to the Kingdom’s scientific advancement.
