The General Authority for Food and Drug has announced the upcoming implementation of new technical food regulations aimed at enhancing food transparency and providing sufficient information to consumers when eating out, enabling them to make informed food choices.
It pointed out that starting from July 1, 2025, food establishments will be required to display detailed nutritional information in their menus, including a “saltiness” label as an advisory sign next to meals high in salt content, disclosure of caffeine content in beverages, and clarification of the time required to burn the calories consumed from the meal.
The authority clarified that these requirements apply to all menus, whether paper or electronic, including online food ordering platforms.
