The Russian government has expanded the list of awards whose recipients are exempt from personal income tax (PIT). This was announced on the government’s Telegram channel.
“Russian laureates of the Union State Prize for Young Scientists will not pay the 13% PIT on the amount of the award received,” the statement said.
The award was established in 2024. The prize is awarded to scientists under the age of 35. Its amount is 3 million rubles. The prize is awarded every two years for research results in natural sciences, engineering, humanities, and in the field of strengthening the defense capabilities of the two states.
Earlier reports indicated that scientists have created the world’s first “smart” prosthesis with optical control. The technology will help replace lost limbs for people with weakened muscles.
