An in-depth perfumery course has begun at the Perfumery Academy, operating within the Diana Gurtskaya Center for Social Integration. This was reported on the official website of the Moscow Mayor.
“Inclusive projects are not just social responsibility, but an important step towards forming a society where every child, regardless of health characteristics, can unlock their potential. The Perfumery Academy for blind and visually impaired children is a prime example of this approach. Here, children not only study scents and create unique compositions but also develop creative thinking and attention. Parents say that the children happily share their impressions of the classes, where they learned to describe smells more confidently,” the message states.
The training will consist of three thematic blocks. In the first one, the children will learn about professions in the industry and try them on for size. In an interactive format, the young students will study the language of perfume notes. For example, they will be told what the scents of cleanliness or autumn rain are made of. The second module is dedicated to tasting. The children will compare perfume compositions with the scents of flowers and fruits. The future perfumers will learn what an olfactory pyramid is and learn to understand scent families.
The third stage is practical. Each participant will try on the role of a perfumer and develop a unique composition. In the pre-holiday atmosphere of December, the children will create scents on the theme of “Winter Fairy Tale.” They will be evaluated by professional perfumers and experts from a major cosmetics company – a partner of the inclusive project.
Perfume experts from the company will select one of the scents as the basis for a new product line. It will become part of serial production.
The Perfumery Academy opened at the Diana Gurtskaya Center for Social Integration of the Moscow Department of Labor and Social Protection in December 2024. The main goal of the project is the socialization and creative rehabilitation of children and young people with health characteristics. The Perfumery Academy has all the conditions created for blind people. The workshops are adapted for tactile work: molds for pouring, diffusers, and bottles are labeled in Braille.
The Diana Gurtskaya Center for Social Integration is a unique rehabilitation center for Russia and other CIS countries. Talented children and young people with health characteristics unlock their creative potential in one of five areas: theater, art, dance, vocal, and instrumental. The center organizes international, all-Russian, and city events and festivals for people with disabilities. Students of the institution regularly become winners and laureates of prestigious creative competitions.
