Analysts from the SberSpasibo loyalty program have studied spending at gas stations among users across Russia for the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Over the year, the average receipt per refueling increased by 9%, reaching approximately 1,288 rubles. Monthly, residents of the Rostov region spend an average of 4,867 rubles on fuel.

According to the study, the Rostov region ranks sixth among regions with the highest total spending at gas stations. In the first half of 2025, residents of the region spent 14.7 billion rubles on fuel—a 27% increase compared to the previous year. Nationwide, the highest fuel spending was recorded in Moscow, where expenditures exceeded 63.9 billion rubles in the first six months of 2025. The top five regions also include the Moscow region (39 billion rubles), St. Petersburg (26 billion rubles), Krasnodar Krai (25 billion rubles), and Sverdlovsk region (15.8 billion rubles).

Russians refueled most frequently in June and least frequently in February. On average, residents of the Don region spend 4,867 rubles per month at gas stations. Over the year, this figure increased by only 82 rubles, showing a 1.7% growth. The highest monthly fuel expenses were recorded in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (11,211 rubles per person), the Luhansk People’s Republic (9,190 rubles), and Magadan region (8,431 rubles). Among major cities, St. Petersburg ranked in the top ten with an average of 6,006 rubles, while Moscow placed 14th with monthly expenses of around 5,750 rubles.

Rostov region is one of the most car-active regions in the country. Despite the general rise in fuel prices, the spending dynamics among Rostov residents remain relatively restrained, indicating a rational approach to personal financial planning.

The study found that the majority of Russian drivers are aged 35–65, accounting for 68% of all gas station transactions. Within this group, men spend an average of 6,174 rubles per month on fuel—almost twice as much as women. The share of drivers aged 18–35 decreased to 27%, while those over 65 accounted for 5% of transactions.

Experts analyzed over 195 million anonymized transactions in the “Gas Stations” category among program users. The sample included customers aged 14 and older from 86 regions of Russia.
