Krasnodar A resident of the Novgorod region set fire to an acquaintance while drinking alcohol in Sochi, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnodar Territory.

The incident occurred on Moskovskaya Street when a conflict arose between a 54-year-old resident of the Novgorod region and his 55-year-old acquaintance, who was homeless.

During the altercation, the Novgorod resident allegedly doused the victim with alcohol and then ignited him with a lighter. The man suffered burns on 10% of his body and was urgently hospitalized.

Criminal investigation officers quickly detained the suspect. An investigation is currently underway to determine all the circumstances of the incident, including the motives and the extent of the detainee’s guilt.
