The Governor of Krasnodar Krai congratulated the region’s Orthodox residents on the feast of the Epiphany.

— Today is one of the main Christian holidays. It reminds us of the importance of spiritual renewal, purity of thought, and mercy. It symbolizes not only purification but also finding an inner strength that helps one go through life with faith and hope. I wish everyone strength of spirit, health, peace in their families, and grace, — noted the head of the region.

The Orthodox holiday is celebrated on January 19.

Krasnodar Krai

Krasnodar Krai is a federal subject and cultural region in southwestern Russia, located on the fertile Kuban steppe between the Black and Azov Seas. Historically part of the Kuban Cossack Host, its territory was annexed by the Russian Empire in the late 18th century and later became a major agricultural center. Today, it is known for its Cossack traditions, subtropical resorts along the “Russian Riviera” in cities like Sochi, and its significant role in Russian grain production.

Epiphany

The Epiphany is a major Christian feast day celebrated on January 6th, commemorating the revelation of God incarnate in Jesus Christ. It primarily marks the visit of the Magi to the infant Jesus, but in some traditions also includes his baptism and first miracle. Its history dates back to at least the 2nd century, originally being a broader celebration of the Nativity before Christmas was established on December 25th.
