First snowfall: nighttime snow in Khabarovsk (PHOTOS)

Winter arrived in Khabarovsk in mid-October. Everyone will be talking about it today as they look out their windows. The snow started in the evening, although it was quite light. Overnight it intensified, leaving roads and cars covered in small but noticeable snowdrifts.

The snowfall hasn’t significantly impacted road conditions yet. There were accidents overnight, but they appeared to be caused by speeding rather than the precipitation.

Now, as the city gradually wakes up, there’s much more snow. People are having to clean their cars with special brushes, and street cleaners have already started sweeping the sidewalks.

An unusual natural phenomenon is being observed on an ecological trail in the Khabarovsk region. White “flowers” form when essential oils in plant stems freeze in the cold.

Khabarovsk

Khabarovsk is a major city in the Russian Far East, founded in 1858 as a military outpost on the Amur River near the Chinese border. It played a significant role in the region’s development and is known for its well-preserved historic architecture, including the iconic Transfiguration Cathedral, and its scenic riverfront promenades.
