A project has been launched to explore the life of urban neighborhoods and streets—from their inception to the present day. Today, we focus on the Aviagorodok district. Its origins remain unclear, and its future appears unpromising.

A project has been launched to document life in the city 100 years ago. In April 1925, the main issue was the impassable mud and devastation across Khabarovsk, revealed after the snow melted. Additionally, residents struggled to understand the officials’ responses to their complaints about the city’s conditions.

Aviagorodok district

Aviagorodok (Авиагородок) is a district in Moscow, Russia, historically linked to the development of aviation. Established in the 1930s near the Khodynka airfield, it was originally a residential area for aviation engineers, pilots, and workers of the nearby aircraft factories. Today, it retains its aviation heritage while being a modern residential and commercial neighborhood.

Khabarovsk

Khabarovsk is a major city in the Russian Far East, located near the border with China at the confluence of the Amur and Ussuri rivers. Founded in 1858 as a military outpost, it grew into a key administrative and cultural hub, known for its historic architecture, including the Transfiguration Cathedral, and its role in regional trade. Today, it serves as an important economic and transportation center, blending Russian and East Asian influences.
