The champion of the Crown Prince Camel Festival’s «Hail» category (Open and General) will receive a cash prize of 1.5 million Saudi Riyals, along with the category sword presented by the festival’s closing ceremony patron. The event, the largest camel racing competition in Saudi Arabia, will take place at the Taif Camel Race Track in early September.
The Saudi Camel Federation has announced the detailed program for the seventh edition of the festival, scheduled from September 2-12. The event will feature 249 races across categories: «Haqaiq» (92 races), «Laqaya» (64 races), «Jadhaa» (40 races), «Thnaya» (24 races), and «Hail & Zmoul» (24 races). Participating camels will cover a total distance of 950 km, in addition to five races for camel riders (three for men and two for women).
The festival’s prize pool exceeds 50 million Saudi Riyals, attracting numerous local and international camel owners. Champions of the festival cups in the five main categories will receive prizes ranging from 500,000 to 1.5 million Riyals, with four races held during the evening sessions at the conclusion of each category.
The program also outlines 10 registration requirements, 34 participation conditions, and 10 general rules, all published for interested participants through official channels.
Previous editions of the festival, first launched in 2018, have seen significant turnout from camel racing enthusiasts across the Kingdom and beyond, aligning with the event’s goal of preserving and promoting camel heritage in Saudi culture.
The camel racing sector receives strong support as part of a broader vision to meet the aspirations of camel owners and enthusiasts across Saudi Arabia and the Arab world. The festival serves as a key gathering for camel racing fans and a platform for cultural heritage, contributing positively to both economic and tourism sectors.
