A 48-year-old man, awarded the Order of Courage, was seriously wounded last year, underwent amputation of his left leg, and received a prosthetic.
«Several months after the injury, the man began losing his vision and nearly went blind. A severe pathology developed in his right eye: the lens not only became clouded but also shifted from its natural position,» the report stated.
Doctors at City Hospital No. 1 decided to perform a complex reconstructive surgery.
The man’s eye structure was restored, and the dislocated, clouded lens was replaced with an artificial one. The surgery was successful, and vision in the right eye was fully restored. Soon, doctors plan to perform a similar operation on the patient’s left eye.
