MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte defended her academic record, while criticizing lawmakers for what she called a ‘mini-trial’ conducted during the impeachment hearing by the House Committee on Justice against her the day before yesterday.

In a statement, Duterte refuted the claims of Ramil Madriaga that she needed help to finish law school.

According to VP Sara, “I completed my studies on my own terms. I placed a higher premium on living a well-rounded life rather than pursuing academic excellence. I never asked any professor for special accommodation for my grades because the bare minimum was easy enough to meet. I was never the subject of any complaint for rudeness or violence against other students at [San Sebastian College – Recoletos College of Law].”

She also took pride in her academic credentials, stating that she graduated in May 2005 and took the Bar Examinations in September of the same year.

She said she passed the bar on her first attempt and obtained a GWA of 80, which is above the minimum passing mark.

The vice president also criticized and questioned the credibility of the people accusing her, further describing Madriaga as a ‘bar flunker’ and ‘kidnapping suspect.’
