Motorists can expect some relief as fuel prices are set to decrease in the coming week.
Based on international petroleum trading trends over the past four days, the following estimated price adjustments are expected next week:
- Gasoline – decrease of approximately ₱0.25 per liter
- Diesel – decrease of approximately ₱1.25 per liter
- Kerosene – decrease of approximately ₱1.20 per liter
“Final adjustments will be confirmed after today’s trading session,” officials stated.
Several key factors have influenced oil supply and pricing recently:
- Increased OPEC+ supply (547,000 barrels per day starting September) and uncertainty regarding US tariff policies;
- Confusion over potential US tariffs on buyers of Russian oil, despite generally favorable US inventory data;
- Oil companies announce official price adjustments every Monday, with changes taking effect the following day.
Earlier this week, several oil companies raised prices: gasoline by ₱1.90 per liter, diesel by ₱1.20, and kerosene by ₱1.00.
Some companies implemented identical changes but did not adjust kerosene prices as they do not carry this product.
Another major company increased prices by ₱1.30 for gasoline, ₱0.90 for diesel, and ₱0.75 for kerosene per liter.
These adjustments took effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, except for one company which implemented changes at 4:01 p.m. the same day.
