Former police officer who criticized the government arrested

MANILA, Philippines — A former police officer who was dismissed from service was arrested in connection with a sedition case after criticizing the government for arresting former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The former police patrolman and vlogger was arrested by his peers under a warrant of arrest from the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 224, in relation to an inciting to sedition case under the Cybercrime Prevention Act, with a recommended bail of P36,000.00.

The case is related to statements made on Facebook while he was still wearing the uniform of the Philippine National Police on March 12 and 13, 2025, which went viral.

He initially condemned the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is facing charges of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In his video, he also encouraged his fellow officers to voice their grievances in the comments and not to succumb to orders that should not be followed, and to convey complaints to higher authorities.

He openly criticized the leadership and officials of the PNP and the President, stating that the arrest of Duterte was illegal, which he would not comply with.
