JAKARTA – Digital marketing is becoming increasingly competitive and is now a key tool for affiliate marketers. This was emphasized by Anthony Soehartono during the TikTok & Shopee Affiliate Business Workshop held in Jakarta.

The workshop was a collaboration between DIGIMARU and Superstar Agency, attended by dozens of participants from various digital business backgrounds. Its main goal: to strengthen relevant and applicable digital marketing skills in today’s creative economy era.

In a session titled “Personal Branding for Affiliate Marketers,” Anthony debunked common misconceptions about personal branding. He stressed that being “famous” is not the same as being “trusted.”

“People don’t buy because your product is great, but because they trust you as the messenger. Personal branding is about building trust, not just showing off,” Anthony explained clearly.

He also added that many affiliate marketers fail not because of low product quality, but because they lack a consistent and authentic identity in the eyes of their audience.

Anthony’s session wasn’t just theoretical—it was practical. Participants were guided to explore their personal values, identify niches that align with their personality, and determine effective communication styles. Some participants’ social media accounts were even analyzed as case studies, providing real-world examples of how to build strong and credible branding.

For Aurel (28), a skincare entrepreneur from Depok, the workshop was a turning point in her marketing perspective.

“Before, I focused on selling the product. Now I realize… I need to sell myself as a brand first. People need to know and trust me first,” she said enthusiastically.

Dina (31), an employee who recently started as an affiliate marketer, also experienced a drastic shift in mindset.

“Turns out, posting frequently isn’t necessarily effective. Without a clear character, the audience gets confused about whether to trust you. This session really opened my eyes,” she shared.

In addition to Anthony, the workshop featured two other notable speakers: Andri Firmansyah (Affiliate Marketing Expert) and Michael Sugiharto (Content Marketing Specialist). Both provided additional insights on content strategy and performance-based digital campaign development.

After successful events in Jakarta and Surabaya, the program plans to expand to other major cities in Indonesia in the coming months.

The goal? To improve digital literacy and nurture a generation of young digitalpreneurs ready to compete globally with strong and credible personal branding foundations.
