Tom and Jerry’s 85th Anniversary Colors Minato Mirai Holiday Event Opens

The main tree lighting ceremony for the “YOKOHAMA MINATOMIRAI WINTER HOLIDAY 2025-2026” event was held on November 11th at Yokohama Landmark Tower (Minato Mirai, Nishi Ward).

At the “Sakata Seed Garden Square” on the first floor of Landmark Plaza, the approximately 10-meter-high “Tom and Jerry MUSIC TREE” was lit for the first time. Tom and Jerry is a delightful slapstick comedy featuring the cat Tom and mouse Jerry chasing each other in every episode, which first appeared in 1940. This year marks its 85th anniversary.

Korean six-member boy group BOYNEXTDOOR, who released the digital single “SAY CHEESE!” to commemorate Tom and Jerry’s 85th anniversary, appeared as guests. After greetings, they stood on stage with Tom and Jerry and performed the tree lighting countdown with visitors. At the moment of lighting, piano sounds played as the entire tree shone in white and gold colors, drawing loud cheers from the audience, and part of their single song was also performed.

The main tree is designed to represent Tom’s skilled piano playing, with coordinated lighting on surrounding pillars and floors, creating the entire space as a stage show with light and sound.

The event is being held at Yokohama Landmark Tower as well as at MARK IS Minato Mirai and Sky Building. Inside Landmark Plaza, there are collaborative displays featuring BOYNEXTDOOR’s official character “BBNEXDO” with Tom and Jerry, and collaborative menus are available at the “TOM and JERRY DINER by Cafe Fan Base” on the 5th floor. At the “Sky Garden” observation floor on the 69th floor of Yokohama Landmark Tower, the 85th anniversary exhibition began on the same day, featuring reproduced original artwork and character history displays.

At the “Grand Galleria” on the first floor of MARK IS Minato Mirai, the approximately 3.5-meter-high balloon object “CHEESE GIFT” is illuminated. Featuring decorations inspired by Jerry’s favorite cheese, visitors were seen enjoying the “photo rally” between Landmark Plaza locations. At the “Central Square” on the 10th floor of Sky Building, a cake tree representing Tom and Jerry’s fun winter party preparations is also displayed.

The event period continues until January 12, 2026.
