(Note) The number of recruits applies to both male and female applicants.
2 Eligibility
Applicants for the September intake selection of the International Baccalaureate course must be born on or before April 1, 2011, and meet one of the following conditions (1) or (2), and must have this course as their first choice.
Furthermore, applications from those who have already applied for the 2026 Tokyo Metropolitan High School Entrance Selection are not accepted.
- Japanese Student Recruitment
Persons with Japanese nationality meeting both conditions a and b:- Individuals not enrolled in high school, special needs high school, secondary school upper division, or technical college, who are expected to complete or have completed a local school between April 1, 2026, and August 31, 2026.
- Individuals residing in Tokyo with a guardian, or those certain to have a residence in Tokyo by the enrollment date, and who will continue to commute from within Tokyo after enrollment. However, if both parents are the guardians, and one parent cannot reside with the applicant in Tokyo due to special circumstances, living with either the father or mother alone is acceptable (only upon review and approval of eligibility).
Additionally, if a guardian cannot return to Japan due to special circumstances and only the applicant returns, there must be a guarantor residing in Tokyo to act on behalf of the guardian, and the guardian (if both parents, either father or mother) must return to Japan within one year of the applicant’s enrollment and reside with the applicant in Tokyo.
- Foreign Student Recruitment
Persons with foreign nationality meeting both conditions a and b:- Individuals not enrolled in high school, special needs high school, secondary school upper division, or technical college, and meeting either (a) or (b):
- Those expected to complete or have completed a local school between April 1, 2026, and August 31, 2026.
- Those expected to complete or have completed a course equivalent to Japan’s nine-year compulsory education through foreign school education in Japan between April 1, 2026, and August 31, 2026.
- Individuals residing in Tokyo with a guardian, or those certain to have a residence in Tokyo by the enrollment date, and who will continue to commute from within Tokyo after enrollment. However, if both parents are the guardians, and one parent cannot reside with the applicant in Tokyo due to special circumstances, living with either the father or mother alone is acceptable (only upon review and approval of eligibility).

3 Other Information
- Students who graduated from overseas Japanese schools in March 2026 are eligible for the April recruitment of Tokyo Metropolitan High Schools and cannot apply for the September recruitment.
- Applicants for the September intake selection of the International Baccalaureate course may also apply and take examinations for the September intake selection for returning overseas students and the September intake selection for foreign students residing in Tokyo. However, since eligibility for the International Baccalaureate
