On August 31, 2025, the Kushiro Police Station in Hokkaido arrested a 45-year-old man working in the adult entertainment industry on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (use of a mobile phone, etc.).
The man is suspected of driving a passenger car while holding a mobile phone and staring at its screen on a road near Kushiro City Tottori O-dori 7-chome around 2:00 PM on August 31, despite having no legally permitted reason to do so.
Police officers conducting a traffic enforcement operation in the area spotted the man driving while looking at his mobile phone screen.
When they stopped the vehicle for inspection, suspicions also emerged that he was driving without a license and without a valid vehicle inspection, leading to his immediate arrest.
During questioning, the man denied the allegations, stating, “I don’t remember much, so I’m not sure.”
It was reported that there was one passenger in the car, and police are investigating whether there were other violations and the purpose of the trip.
