The man, who did not possess a driver’s license issued by the Public Safety Commission, allegedly drove a passenger car and collided with another vehicle driven by a 51-year-old resident of Sapporo’s Chuo Ward around 7:00 PM on June 27, 2025, near the intersection of Minami 6-jo Higashi 1-chome in Sapporo. Despite injuring two passengers, he fled the scene.

The victim’s car carried a family of five, including two young boys—one in elementary school and the other preschool-aged—who suffered minor head injuries.

According to police, the crash occurred at a crossroads where two passenger vehicles collided head-on. The suspect’s vehicle had a stop sign at the intersection.

During questioning, the man admitted to the allegations, stating, “There’s no mistake it was my fault,” and confirmed he had never obtained a driver’s license.

Police are investigating the motive behind the suspect’s escape from the scene and the ownership of the vehicle he was driving.
