About Coral Island Baked Chocolate
About Coral Island Baked Chocolate

This was baked by topping a white chocolate base, seasoned with a moderate amount of Hamahiga salt from Uruma City, Okinawa

Okinawa

Okinawa is a Japanese prefecture consisting of hundreds of islands in the East China Sea, known for its unique Ryukyuan culture and subtropical beaches. Historically, it was the center of the independent Ryukyu Kingdom, which flourished as a trading hub from the 15th to 19th centuries before being annexed by Japan in 1879. The islands were also the site of the devastating Battle of Okinawa during World War II, and today they host key U.S. military bases while preserving a distinct cultural heritage.

Hamahiga salt

Hamahiga salt is a traditional sea salt produced on Hamahiga Island in Okinawa, Japan, using a time-honored method that dates back centuries. The salt is made by evaporating seawater in shallow pans, a process that preserves the island’s rich cultural heritage and yields a uniquely mild, mineral-rich flavor. This artisanal product reflects the deep connection between Okinawan communities and their coastal environment.

Uruma City

Uruma City is located on the island of Okinawa, Japan, and was established in 1974 through the merger of four towns and a village. The area has a rich history, having been a key site during the Ryukyu Kingdom era and later experiencing significant impact during World War II, particularly the Battle of Okinawa. Today, Uruma is known for its cultural heritage, including traditional festivals and preserved historical sites like the Katsuren Castle ruins.
