Regarding the results of the recent House of Councillors election, Aichi Governor Hideaki Omura pointed out that governing has become more difficult but stated, “There will be no change in the direction of prefectural administration.”

“There is no doubt that governing has become significantly more challenging. (Prime Minister Ishiba) has stated that he will engage in sufficient discussions and debates with the opposition, so we will be watching closely.”

At today’s press conference, Governor Omura made these remarks, emphasizing that despite the ruling party’s major defeat in the House of Councillors election, “the composition of the prefectural assembly remains unchanged,” and prefectural administration will continue without altering its course.

He also mentioned that taxes such as the gasoline tax serve as financial resources for local governments and added, “To prevent public works from stalling, we urge the national government to take solid measures, including securing stable revenue sources in case of tax cuts.”
